Dubai lends itself to daredevils. A few weeks after a group of BASE jumpers safely plunged off a 1,300-foot apartment building, two men strapped to jetpacks are taking in the city in an even more adventurous way.
Yves "Jetman" Rossy and his protege Vince Reffet cruised high above the iconic skyline with custom-built carbon fiber jet wings that span six feet. The four Jet Cat P200 engines were powerful enough to boost them to speeds of 125 miles per hour. The duo released a slickly produced short documentary that's peppered with astonishing 4K footage and vertigo-inducing GoPro footage of their flight.
If you don't hear their voices trembling with fear, it's because they're professional daredevils. Rossy, a former fighter pilot for the Swiss Air Force, has embarked on dozens of flights as the jetman, soaring over the Grand Canyon and the English Channel. Reffet is also an experienced BASE jumper and close confidant of Rossy's.
It's safe to say they probably didn't take any Dramamine before embarking on this feat.
