The drone company has offered up both a dream for video game historians: a real life version of the 1978 classic Space Invaders, using drones.
The player sits in a moving chair, and fires a laser at the flying invader drones, which have screens showing the traditional pixel aliens. When the player scores a direct hit on a drone, its display goes off and it lands.
Built for , the set-up only further cements Space Invaders place as one of the most influential video games of all time. Developed entirely by one man, Tomohiro Nishikado, the game took Japan by storm, over 100,000 cabinets within its first few years. While Nishikado that he "struggles through the first level" of the game, it's clear that what he built still inspires innovative uses of the latest technology.
