Stainless steel appliances are beautiful when clean, but they attract fingerprints and smudges easier than any other type of finish. Fortunately, stainless steel is easy to clean using simple household products found in most kitchens.
Stainless steel can be easily dulled and damaged by using an abrasive scouring pad or cleaning agent. Always use a clean terry cloth or to clean stainless steel. Avoid any type of cleaner that contains acid or scrubbing particles.
Start with Vinegar
Using a spray bottle filled with vinegar, spray and wipe down the stainless steel surface using a clean cloth. Take note of the direction of the "grain" of the steel surface and wipe in that direction. This is usually from top to bottom.
Dishwashing liquid and baking soda also can be used to remove stubborn dirt and food particles.
Finish with Oil
Wipe a dab of across the stainless steel surface, which will bring back the luster to your appliance. Some people recommend glass cleaner, but check your appliance owners manual to make sure that it's safe to use.
