Google Maps for iPhone and Android Gets a Complete Redesign

Google has continued its roll-out of Material Design to Google Maps.

The makeover follows those for Android, Chrome OS, the web and other apps such as , which have already adopted the new, consistent look.


Material Design has introduced bolder colors, new iconography and typography to the app, as well as greater layering.

"Over the next few days, when you open up Google Maps on your Android or iPhone, you'll be greeted by bright colors and a fresh new design," the company said in a .


There's also a new info sheet at the bottom of the screen, which brings up a layer of photos, reviews and more when tapped.

US users gain integration with OpenTable too, allowing them to make table reservations within the app.
