Mother Nature's wrath can savage anywhere in the world with an arsenal of varying weather conditions, but it is never quite as horrifying and awe-inspiring as it is at sea. When the big waves hit, you're whole world rocks, and there's no were to go to escape.
There are plenty of ways that waves can mess up your day, but which recently shows a particularly extreme example. In it, you'll see a container ship (the ) hit heavy weather in the North Atlantic sea that caused it to roll to whipping 40 degrees, the severity of which is conveniently illustrated by some on-screen graphics.
The ship was able to weather the storm, but doing so is no small task. Storm preparations are involved and arduous even for weather not nearly as vicious as this, not to mention that the constant churn can put sailors on edge at degrees far below 40.
Good luck out there, sailors of all stripes. Try to stay afloat.
