Last week, Boston Dynamics released a video of its robot dog opening a door in a scene that was almost straight out of Jurassic Park. Now, the company has released a clip of what happens if you try to put a stop to it. It does not take kindly to the interruption.
As noted in the video's description, the entire door-opening process is automated, with the bot's camera finding the handle and then its arm going to open it with no human intervention involved. If a human does intervene, perhaps by trying to drag the dog away from the door, it will automatically try to regain its balance and head back toward its prime directive. Boston Dynamics also points out that "This testing does not irritate or harm the robot."
Time will tell.
